Utah vs. Michigan: I’m taking Utah and the points

Big Mike, I am in disagreement with you on Utah vs. Michigan. I want to talk about a couple of points when I look at this matchup in The Big House. I actually feel that your point of Michigan not having a starter named is the tip of the iceberg on their actual biggest positive going into this game…. I’m sure Utah has had a hell of a time preparing for a team not naming a starter, and an even harder time preparing for an offense that under such change. Let’s remember though, Utah has had all summer to watch film from West Virginia and scout Michigan players. Utah is having to prepare for many different scenarios, but they have had months to do it instead of the 4 days they would have during the middle of a season.
I want to remind you what a spread offense looks like in it’s infancy: Take a look back at a couple of the Florida Gators first games under Urban Meyer during his first season coaching in The Swamp. They were a bit of a mess, and even at that time they had much more speed than Michigan currently has to convert a big play here and there to cover up the inconsistencies in a new spread offense. Make no bones about it, the Gator defense carried that team during their championship season.
On the other hand, Utah doesn’t have the most speed in the nation (although Utah, and some of the High School teams I have seen in the state of Florida probably have more speed than most Big 10 teams… ha… in the words of P-Diddy on everyone else’s songs… Take That, Take That, Take That…. Eh Eh, Eh Eh, Eh Eh) but, they have been running this offense since Meyer was there. They run the spread offense like a well oiled machine, their misdirection offense against Michigan’s slow defense will look very smooth, smooth like Jessica Simpson’s face after Proactive.
Take the 3.5 points, then laugh in the faces of the most quiet group of 111,000 football fans in one stadium, or Big House, or Retirement Home or whatever else you call that home field advantage.
