Take a Seat and Pay Attention
It is THE WEEKEND. We all know it, we can feel it in the air. Before lunch time today I had already had six different conversations about THE WEEKEND. If you aren’t sure what THE WEEKEND is, you probably have a fulfilling social and sex life, but for Fantasy Football Player (FFP for short) THE WEEKEND is upon us. THE WEEKEND when we have our drafts for the last of our 7 different fantasy teams! Because we all have theories about what makes a winning team many of us are in multiple leagues, for instance I am a huge QB jock-sniffer so that is generally my main draft focus. However I have been known to withdraw funds from the kid’s piggy banks to enter a league where I follow conventional wisdom and stockpile running backs like Lindsey Lohan stockpiles empty Grey Goose bottles.
THE WEEKEND is our last chance to put our thoughts and theories to the test, whether drafting a team or finalizing the draft of the “ONE” player we need to put us comfortably to rest prior to opening kickoff. I urge everyone entering THE WEEKEND to take a minute and write the following notes onto a 3 x 5 index card to provide yourself with some Common Sense Insurance,

Utah vs. Michigan: I’m taking Utah and the points
Big Mike, I am in disagreement with you on Utah vs. Michigan. I want to talk about a couple of points when I look at this matchup in The Big House. I actually feel that your point of Michigan not having a starter named is the tip of the iceberg on their actual biggest positive going into this game
There are only two seasons: Football and Recruiting.
It only takes a basic understanding of College Football to appreciate the beauty of a Saturday afternoon game anywhere South of the Mason-Dixon line. One sees smiling Alumnus anticipating a victorious afternoon for their team, one sees tanned fit blonde co-eds with colors of their respective schools face-painted on their dimpled cheeks and, most importantly, one sees the best competition week in and week out that college football has to offer.
Boolah Boolah!
So I’m perusing a chatboard today and it hits me, Michigan has to actually play another season opener! We all remember Dexter Jackson and his Appalachian State teammates embarassing Big Blue in the Big House last fall, but can lightning strike twice in the home state of Kwame Kilpatrick?
There are two good articles I’ve read that will give you a nice perspective on this game
Football-Pickers.com: Our first BlogTalkRadio Show!
We’ll hope this plays. This was a test show we kept private while we worked out the technical issues (it turned out, there weren’t any and Big Mike and T-Love were AWESOME!). But, we liked the results enough that I cleaned up some extraneous stuff (read: we didn’t know we were being recorded after the show went off the air – oops!) and deleted the show from our page at BTR, and posted it here instead. We’ll leave it here for a couple days, then probably archive it offsite to save bandwidth. Because, you know, Big Mike and T-Love are going BIG-TIME and all the downloads might one day crash the entire intartubes.
Hope you enjoy!
My Fantasy Football Picks
Shhh… I’m not supposed to be here…
I’m Just Plain Tim, the older, better-looking brother of the two guys you’ve been reading so far. But, what they lack in intelligence, initiative, good-looks, and personal hygiene they more than make up for in football knowledge.
Obsessive?
Let me put it this way
“Last year, I was a fantasy football genius”
Gee, thanks little brother, when did you turn into “Last year I was a fantasy football genius” guy? People could not care less what you did last year, they need the top sleeper pick for THIS year. Don’t worry Lil’ Dog, I’ll handle it for us.
The 2008 Football-Pickers.com Fantasy sleeper is
Ok, So Your Fantasy Football Draft Is Coming Up….
So is everybody else’s, and we aren’t all thinking the same things. Those of us that win championships aren’t thinking the same way as those that don’t. Don’t stain your armpits over your first few rounds…..all of those players are good. Its rounds 4 and on where championship teams are built.
